Exploring the future of
AI-native wearables.
We believe the next generation of devices won’t be screens, trackers, or disposable gadgets, but embodied artefacts that are precious, enduring, and culturally resonant.
Founded by siblings Dr Emma Luke and Thom Luke, Slipping Realities brings together over 35 years of combined experience across industry, academia, and innovation labs.
Emma’s PhD in holistic wearable technology developed frameworks for enchantment, longevity, and animism in post-digital artefacts, building on her career as a watch designer at Ripcurl and founder of independent fashion label Mecurialist.
Thom’s PhD research investigates how generative AI enables radical innovation, grounded in a career spanning future mobility, aerospace, medtech, and advanced manufacturing, alongside founding and scaling his own design consultancy.
Together, we are not rushing to ship the next incremental product. We are pre-idea by design: exploring the untapped potential of AI at the intersection of body, culture, and technology. Our ambition is to imagine new form factors, new meanings, and new modes of interaction that could fundamentally change how humans and AI live together.
Our approach blends academic theory, applied experience, and tacit design knowledge, which we translate into industry-ready contexts with exceptional effect.
By combining radical research with entrepreneurial execution, we aim to create artefacts that do more than optimise life, they augment being.
